A second Library and Centre for Conservation Education

Recycling Sea Containers

At Kenya Wildlife Service, Temple Point, our new Community library and Conservation Education centre is now open.

Two 20 ft containers, generously donated by Mr Evans of Hemingways Hotels, were converted into an amazing Library and Conservation Education centre; a protective roof, doors, Louvre windows and solar power provide light, power and ventilation.

It has an area between the containers for the children to sit protected from weather and they also have use of the KWS education area. With 80 children attending every Saturday it is well used.

KWS are a Conservation Organisation with education at their heart. Together we have created a centre for conservation education and brought together other local agencies to co-ordinate protection and awareness of the local Coastal environment.

The children have already had talks from East African Reptiles about snakes and from KWS about safe snorkelling and protection of corals.
